Large Microsoft environments, run from the inside for years
I am Alain Julmy. I have worked in IT for more than 25 years, with a focus on Microsoft 365 and Azure since 2013. I never worked for clients on the side. Each of them had me full time. Today you get that experience from large environments through comptec, even as a small company.
Three questions almost every company asks
- What happens if you are unavailable?Operations, support and larger projects run through my partner ACE. Everything I build is documented so that another specialist can take it over.
- Will you stay until it works?Yes. I was at BKW for 12 years and at Migros for 10. I leave when your team can run it themselves.
- Can we work in French or German?Yes. German is my first language, and I speak French and English at business level. Plasselb is in the bilingual canton of Fribourg.
- 12 years at BKW Energie, around 3,000 users: Exchange across two sites, a file server cluster across two data centres, and automated provisioning of workstations and servers
- 10 years at Migros, including Migros Aare with around 12,000 users: introduced Microsoft 365 and Azure with Conditional Access (who may sign in from where and on which device) and binding rules for every Azure subscription, and before that virtual desktops with 75 percent shorter sign-in times
- Migros-Genossenschafts-Bund, around 30,000 users: moved around 5,000 Migros Aare users, with their mailboxes, Teams and devices, into the shared environment of the Migros-Genossenschafts-Bund
- Federal Office of Information Technology, Systems and Telecommunication (FOITT), around 65,000 users: contributed to the Microsoft 365 target architecture, Conditional Access, AI agents and automation
- 3 years as head of IT at an SME: automated processes with Power Automate and Power BI, connected the web shop, CRM and ERP
Education and certifications- Business informatics specialist and systems engineer
- Microsoft Certified: Security Operations Analyst Associate, plus earlier Microsoft certifications (MCITP, MCSA, MCTS)
- HERMES, ITIL v3, VMware VCP
- Experience in second- and third-level support with on-call duty, working in Scrum and SAFe
